NIGB published 'Access to Health Records by Diagnostic Staff - Guidance for Patients and Healthcare Professionals'

The NIGB published guidance 'Access to Health Records by Diagnostic Staff - Guidance for Patients and Healthcare Professionals'.

The purpose of this Guidance is to provide clarity for both patients and healthcare professionals about access to health records by Diagnostic Clinicians and their support staff when they do not have a direct relationship with the patient and therefore are not in a position to ask for consent to view the record themselves.

Section 2, ‘Guidance for Patients’, page 6, could be used as a template when developing patient information materials for diagnostic tests. A Word version is available here if organisations wish to customise it to meet local requirements.

Please note that this Guidance is only available electronically - clicking on the link above.
